George Clayton Johnson told me yesterday. That all the Con’s that he has attended, since the 1950’s. The Best, most enjoyable in his experience, was the Cortez years 1972-1978 SDCC , Which also stands for Shel Dorf Comic Con. Happy New Year to Shel, Ken and all Cortez Alumni
Greg, I would agree with George the most enjoyable Comicons were the El Cortez shows of the 70s venues. The Sense of Wonder was still very much rampant then there, before we got worn down by “life” and the expansion into thousands of myriad fandoms which now ride on Comicon’s coat tails
Thanks Charlie, nice card.
Greatest historical event in fandom was the Cortez years 72-78. We collected comics and other items that averaged around 30-20-10 years in age. SDCC Cortez artifacts are 32 to 38 years old. That’s incredible and ironic. Also Kool.
